February Layout Tag at Scrap Shotz

I love layout tags; have you played? It's where you scraplift a card or layout and pass it on to the next person who scraplifts you. I am always amazed at the progression of the tags.

Here is my tag submission.

A few close-ups...

I adore this ribbon. When it is subtlety adorned with pearls, it is even more luscious...if that can be possible!

A close-up of the title...I love mixing and matching various mediums for my titles. Here I mixed the glitter alphas stickers from SEI with the chunkier BasicGrey chipboard alphas.

Here is a cross-sectional view of the layout. Although the ribbon appears chunky, it easily squishes flat, without adding bulk to your scrapbooks.

Supplies:  SEI (pattern paper, die cut stickers, alphas); BasicGrey (chipboard alphas); Prima (pearls); American Crafts (ribbon roses)

Did I mention how much I love love love the American Crafts ribbon roses??? The ribbon is so soft, so feminine, so beautiful and oh so versatile! (I have almost every colour *blush*)

Enough Already?

OK I will admit it! Sometimes I continue to take pictures of my girls well beyond the sweet spot of picture taking! But a girl has to practice; doesn't she?

Here is a layout celebrating those less than spectacular pictures! Those pictures are not technically great by any means but they capture some pretty funny faces!

Supplies: Close to my Heart (cardstock); Tinkering Ink (pattern paper); Prima (bling alphas); Maya Road (chipboard butterflies); Dazzlers (flowers); ribbon (source unknown); Fancy Pants (rub ons)

I am mighty proud of myself for using up alot of odds and sods that were verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry old!

Puhleez

"Puhleez...Mommy...we are in love..." That 5 word phrase was chanted over and over and over by the girls when my friends, John and Mary Lou Fellows came for a visit and brought their adorable dogs too! Madison and Danielle could not keep their eyes off the dogs. They were smitten immediately. Here is my layout showing their love to the dogs...

Supplies:  The Girls Paperie (pattern paper); BasicGrey (chipboard alphas, chipboard die cut shapes); Elles Studio (journaling spot); Tattered Angels (glimmer mists); EK Success (border punch); stitching; Cosmo Cricket (mini alphas)

We're Going on a Fairy Hunt!

Danielle and I love reading the book, "We're going on a lion hunt.." And you can't really say the title without some lyrical movement in your voice, can you??? One day after reading the book, we went for a walk. Instead of the usual, "We're going for a walk Mommy..." she said, "Mommy, we're going on a fairy hunt!" LOL Our neighbours have the most adorable shed in their backyard. Every single time we go by the shed, Danielle says, "I wonder if the fairies are home today." She then knocks on the door to see if anyone is there. I love this routine of hers and hope she keeps her imagination and dreams for a long long time to come.

Here is my layout capturing our Fairy Hunt.

Supplies:  SEI (pattern papers and chipboard accents); EK Success border punch; American Crafts (alphas); ribbon (source unknown)

Of course a close-up on how incredibly beautiful these papers are and my lilting title!

Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love. We all want to be loved. And of course I unconditionally love my children. What is so beautiful to see is the unconditional love my Mom, the girls' Grandma has for them. Now that is something I am so happy to have captured.

Supplies:  BasicGrey (pattern paper, die cut stickers, chipboard, alpha); Close to my Heart (brads)

Celebrating Easter

Have you ever participated in layout tag? It is a thrilling and fun game that involves scrapbooking. You must scraplift some element from the layout of the person in front of you. Here is my 2-pager Easter layout. (I rarely do 2-pagers now but I love this one and I could definitely see myself doing more 2-pagers!)

Supplies:  American Crafts (pattern paper); Bazzill (cardstock); Evalicious (felt conversation bubbles); Quickutz (alpha die cuts); Making Memories (mini alphas)

Ugh! We have been sick!

I don't know what is going around but there is definitely something...and all 4 of us have it! We have been nauseous, sick to our stomaches and plagued with sinus issues; hence, my blog has been neglected for the past week. But...here I am, back and totally refreshed!!!

Here is my take on the March layout tag at Scrap Shotz. Gosh, it was so fun and I totally have the scrapping bug again! This is a bit simpler than my usual style but I love it...and it's a 2-pager to boot!!!

Supplies:  Bazzill (cardstock); American Crafts (pattern paper); Evalicious (felt circle and quote bubbles); Quickutz (alphas for the title)

This Face Is Cute

One of my challenges at the recent Scrap Shotz Passion for Fashion crop was the 80's Bigger is Better challenge. Here I challenged crop participants to create a layout or card adding dimension to at least one element on their project. Personally I love pop dots and I love love love the texture it gives to my layout or card. (Yes I do use alot of pop dots! LOL)

Here is my layout:

I love these photos of Danielle - she is such a happy kid and loves to ham it up for the cameras as you can see here.

A close-up of the Heidi Swapp flowers, double pop dots here and topped with an October Afternoon cardstock stickers.

And popped up American Crafts

And a raised set of borders with the EK Success scallop and embossed punch

Supplies: October Afternoon (pattern papers, cardstock stickers); Prima (gems and pearls); Heidi Swapp (chipboard alphas, flowers); Close to my Heart (cardstock); Fiskars border punch; EK Success (scallop and embossed punch)

It's Day 3 of the Stampede!!

And we haven't done any Stampede-ing this year! Yikes! How un-Calgarian of us to not take in the festivities in and around town - but we have been very busy. Dominic took the week off and we have been working steadily on the yard and the house. My listings on Kijiji and Craigslist have also kept me hopping - why does everybody want something for nothing? Everything was priced to sell and everyone low balls their offer. And despite how much this aggravates me, I just want to declutter the house...so all you bargain hunters are in luck!

The last two days have been spent going to Sunnyside and Blue Grass Nurseries. I have planted lots of new perennials and hope in 2-3 years time, I will have a beautiful flowering garden to enjoy. Right now, it lacks alot of lustre and is dominated by children having water gun fights and clamouring all over the swingset and the flower beds (despite my terse warnings!) Gardening is not something I enjoy and is a chore that I do to have a nice yard to enjoy. This year we have a cute veggie patch which is doing well in some areas but not so good in other areas. I don't quite understand this but I am going to blame the unpredictable Mother Nature for my predictament!

So all this busy-ness has not left me alot of time to create because my desk is being dismantled as we speak so Dominic can fix the keyboard tray...and I have been slaving in the hot sun in the yard. Here are a few pictures of my newly perennial-laid garden. Not a great picture, I know! It was just starting to storm with chubby rain drops, thunder and lightning but you can see that there are now flowers around the patio.

And here are the flowers that are around the patio - I really love them! They are cute and a fabulous colour! Now...if I can only keep them alive! Again, sorry for the rotten picture...I didn't get a chance to change my camera settings and I was getting very wet...and Dominic and Danielle were yelling for me to get into the house!

Because I haven't created alot, I thought I would share some of my favorite layouts to-date! OK, who doesn't have a smile on their face when they see these pictures? This was my entry in the Hot Shotz I for the inspiration round.

Supplies: Basic Grey patterned paper; Heidi Swapp bling; Autumn Leaves journalling block; ink - Close to my Heart; 7gypsies rubs; blossom (unknown)

This picture is one of my all time favorites of Danielle! I love how her little dimpled hand is wrapped with PauPau's hand. A unique generational picture - can't have too many of those! And I love the dimensional flowers on the layout made with plain old cardstock - it is amazing what you can do with the very basics; isn't it?

Supplies: Bazzill textured cardstock; Basic Grey patterned paper and cardstock for the flowers; prima flowers; Heidi Swapp bling; 7gypsies journalling tag; chipboard letters (I can't remember! *blush*); lace and woven tag (unknown)

And I cannot forget this layout of the girls together - a moment where love is oozing out of their pores!

Supplies: WRMK (I think!!!) patterned paper, chipboard and ribbon.

Hope you all have had a wonderful day!
