I Am in Love With Sunny Saskatchewan

We have been here for one full week now and boy are we loving it! The weather has been fantastic - we have been spoiled rotten by my Mom; we have been swimming 2-3 times a day; the girls are having a blast being reacquainted with their "summer" friends; Dominic has been "puttering" and I have been scrapbooking. So life could not be possibly better!

I have been scrapbooking alot this past week and will unfortunately be slowing down a bit as my neices from Quebec are in town. Today is the first time I really met my new niece Sophie and she is a cutie patootie, if I do say so myself. It is so great to see the cousins play and get along - playing is such a universal language with children - I just love it! So yes, I have pictures but I can't find my usb cord *blush* - pictures will come tomorrow!

Anyone watching the Olympics? I just can't get enough of the games! They are so inspiring and fascinating to watch! So a short blog tonight but I hope to show you all pictures tomorrow!

And We Are Off...Like a Herd of Turtles!!!

Every year we have the bestest of intentions to head out on our vacation...on time, fully packed and loaded, complete with coffee and kids' snacks. And it seems every year we are delayed by some reason or another! LOL Rather than being consumed with packing and cleaning today, I have an extra long post to share!

First off, we had an amazing summer "Music Mania" crop at Scrap Shotz. I challenged members to a progressive card challenge titled "Rock Around the Clock" and a traditional layout challenge titled "True Colours." Plus, I had two games - "Name That Tune" and a guessing game.

My first challenge was the progressive card challenge where members were asked to make 6 cards based on a series of instructions. It was so fun to see all the diverse and beautiful cards from the given instructions. Below are my cards; they are 5.25 x 5.25. Supplies are all from my offcut stash. What I remember (LOL) is the patterned paper is Chatterbox, American Crafts, October Afternoon and Daisy D. Embellies are Chatterbox, Fancy Pants, Autumn Leaves, May Arts, Close To My Heart and Prima.

My "True Colours" challenge was to create a layout using colours that are expected or traditional to an event. For example, we expect red and green for Christmas or red and white for Canada Day. It was nice change from using non-traditional colours for events. My layout is below. All supplies are from My Minds Eye with the exception of the red bling (Close To My Heart) and the green suede paper (unknown source.)

And today is August 1st, right? The 1st of the month is the DT reveal at Scrap Shotz. The kit this month is from SEI - the Poppy line! Isn't it just luscious? And yes, you get all that in your kit every month! If you have been thinking of a kit subscription, don't wait! Sandy has in my opinion the best kits around!

And here are my projects for this month - hope you like them! I had so much fun doing them!

Another project to show is Scrap Shotz Gives Back ... again! We had a challenge at the crop where $5 was donated to the Childrrens' Wish Foundation for each person that completed the challenge which can be found here - http://http//www.scrapshotz.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19582. Isn't this just a fabulous reason to scrap? Here is my layout for the challenge -

And my game was to guess how many layouts were in these albums?

I cannot believe it myself but I took my adding machine with me and ran the tape as I counted! There were 504 layouts! Whooooo-wee! It sure was fun afterwards when the girls looked at their books...and that makes it all worth it!

Hope you are all having a wonderful summer day!
