Crop4Kids - Calgary

Ugh! We have been sick!

I don't know what is going around but there is definitely something...and all 4 of us have it! We have been nauseous, sick to our stomaches and plagued with sinus issues; hence, my blog has been neglected for the past week. But...here I am, back and totally refreshed!!!

Here is my take on the March layout tag at Scrap Shotz. Gosh, it was so fun and I totally have the scrapping bug again! This is a bit simpler than my usual style but I love it...and it's a 2-pager to boot!!!

Spring is in the Air

I would like to share a project I made for Urban Swank and The Inspired Scrapper this month.

After coming back from our Florida vacation, I was feeling blah and needed a pick-me-up! Scrapping this made me feel that spring was imminent! LOL

Here is how I made the layout - Using my EK Success Curvy Circle cutter, I cut out the large inner chartreuse circle. Then I punched several smaller circles with my EK Success circle punch from white cardstock scraps to create the scalloped edge.

Everywhere I look, I see handmade flowers and thought...I should be able to make some and that I did. I dug through the gift wrapping box to find some tissue paper. Again, using my EK Success circle punch, I punch a bunch of circles. I secured the circles iwth a brad and then "fluffed" up the circles, well, basically I scrunched them up. Then I liberally sprayed them with 2 different colours of Tattered Angels glimmer mist. I also dusted the tops of the flowers with some Ranger Glossy Accents and some Pink Paislee Pixie Stix.

Happy Halloween

Is it really too early to scrap Halloween? LOL I had some fun with some yummy American Crafts papers!

Love these papers and I love their rubs! Well, I love everything American Crafts actually! LOL

These pictures remind me that even though things don't go the way you planned them; plan B is just as good! I was feeling soooooooooooooo guilty that I could not carve the pumpkin as I usually do because this was the year I was super sick with an infection. Luckily I remembered I had purchased a Mr. Potato Head pumpkin accessory pack and it worked out perfectly! We had so many compliments that year and the girls were super happy!

Volunteer Day

This next layout has been sitting half finished for a couple of months, not sure why, but it was hard to put the finishing touches on it. Nonetheless, it documents one of my first times volunteering for Danielle. We absolutlely loved The Calgary Preparatory Scool. Her teacher, Mrs. Eshpeter was WONDERFUL and Danielle was so stimulated. She loved going to preschool each and every time. It is my biggest regret that we had to withdraw at Christmas due to my illness. Even though we were only there for 4 months, we have the most wonderful memories of the school and Mrs. Eshpeter. :-)

Here is a close-up of the rubs I decided to layer. What I think is so fantastic about BasicGrey is the very full and amazing book of Olio rubs. I have since used all the papers from the Sultry line but I still have a few straggling rubs left. THAT is how many rubs there are in this very value-oriented accent.

Impromptu Photos

OK I will confess, I am a Mama-razzi! My kids sometimes get tired of me following them around with the camera but they humour me nonetheless. I love taking photos, be it planned or impromptu. This layout uses 2 of my favorite photos taken during an impromptu photo shoot and is based on a sketch by Becky Fleck of Pagemaps. The Number of the Day is 5

Remember the number of day from Sesame Street? Danielle loves Sesame Street and if truth be told, I do too! Sssshhhhh I don't want Danielle to think the show is educational or something! LOL
